It is entirely possible to put an untradeable 'membership only' bond, for less than two weeks, that an NPC sells. I'm rambling so let me concise this into some final thoughts. If this is not the reason for bonds being put on the GE, then what is? Isn't that just another form of microtransaction? If you genuinely want to get a massive amount of gold you can just buy the bonds and sell them on the GE, I know several people who have done this. I'm not an expert on the economic reasonings of these things, but where was the harm in setting bonds to an NPC at a fixed price? Why did it have to be in the GE? Realistically the only message that gets sent from this is if you want to buy gold with real money, you buy bonds and sell them to the GE. It will give a little light on the subject, but again is not a large enough sample size to give definitive proof to the topic. For more information on this, I will be creating a poll in this post. The problem with the first reason is (as players) have no real information who is buying Bonds for what reason. The two big ones are Bonds are not used exclusively for membership, and GE manipulation has never been Jagex's thing. The simplest solution would be to cap the price of bonds, which will never happen for several reasons. The higher the price of bonds, the slimmer the amount of low-mid level players can use the play-to-pay method. The issue is once you are at high level PVM bossing one drop is enough to buy a massive amount of bonds, where as a lower level player it would take them most of if not all of the two weeks they get from a bond. There are numerous ways to grind for gold, the best being high-end PVM Bossing of course. However I firmly believe that at the prices bonds are at now, it is completely unrealistic for a normal mid-leveled player to grind (checks current price) 53,000,000 coins every two weeks. A free-to-play player could make a brand new account, grind for a realistic amount of time, get two weeks of membership, and progress their account to make that grind easier. The concept of grinding gold for membership was and is always a great concept. You can read the full text of the rules here. General discussion on Treasure Hunter and other MTX is allowed.
